Somchai and I was supposed to meet at 11am,but by some strange 'force' we met along Sam Sen Road at 9am .I was hoping to get some breakfast along SamSen Rd when I suddenly bumped into Somchai on the same street. You see, Somchai stays about 30 km from Sam Sen Rd. He just decided to come out early and so we met. Strange but true.We had breakfast togather and after that we took the bus to go seightseeing togather with Din. We first took the bus to the area near the King's palace before continuing , walking in the 'ChinaTown'area.
What is interesting about the bus ride is,the ride was FOC. It is a service meant for the poor who find it costly to move around in Bangkok. The bus is very basic and without air-conditioning but serves a very basic need. Of course there are air-conditioned buses, taxis and the 'tuk-tuk' that you can use and pay . But the idea of free bus rides is indeed a brilliant idea by the authorities. How good if the same thing can happen in KL and PJ and other towns in Malaysia.
'Chinatown' in Bangkok is many times the size of Petaling Street and anything and everything can be found there. If you think Petaling Street can boast of immitation Rolex watches, perfumes and branded undergarments, here you can even get immitation 'penises' of various shapes and sizes. What would they think of next.
We also went to the main Railway Station to book a ticket for Din and the bicycle for the next day. Tickets to Butterworth were all sold out so Din had to contend with a ticket only to Hatyai. From Hatyai Din would need to ride to Bukit Kayu Hitam and then on to PJ by whatever he chooses. Me? Another story.
